La Brujula - Small Galician Mussels with Garlic & Chilli

£7.50

La Brújula - Mejillones Picantes con Ayo y Guindilla Nø131

The mussels in this tin are small but plump and perfect. They’re steam-shucked, cleaned, and gently fried, then packed with the perfect pairing of garlic and cayenne pepper. It’s a winning combination we see often in tinned fish, but rarely with mussels - for no good reason that we can see.

Let them sit at kitchen temperature for a few minutes so the flavours reveal themselves, then eat them straight from the tin with beer, or on a salty biscuit with, or without a smear of cream cheese.

Ingredients: Mussels‍ ‍(mollusc), olive oil, sunflower oil, garlic, cayenne pepper and salt.

Net Weight: 110g

About La Brújula

La Brújula was founded in 1999 in Ribadumia, in Galicia’s Rías Baixas, building on a family background in seafood. They work with what’s close: shellfish from the Galician rías and fish from the Cantabrian Sea, packed when it’s in season and at its best.

Everything is done by hand. The Damas del Mar clean, sort, and place each fish into the tin, keeping things consistent. There’s no dressing it up either - just seafood, olive oil or brine, and salt.

The name is The Compass and it points you in the right direction. It’s about knowing where the product comes from and not interfering too much once you have it.

They’ve become one of the reference points for high-end conservas in Spain, winning multiple awards. Not because they push for it, but because the tins speak for themselves.
