Nuri, one of Portugal's most respected traditional fish canneries, began as an export brand of Pinhais & Cia in the 1930s. Based in Matosinhos, where the Atlantic meets northern Portugal.
Distinguished by iconic yellow tins, Nuri represents the best of Portuguese seafood preservation techniques. Each tin contains hand-selected fish prepared according to the original methods unchanged since 1920, when the Pinhal brothers established their factory.
Unlike industrial producers, Nuri maintains artisanal canning processes, with fish hand-cut, cleaned and carefully packed in premium olive oil. This commitment to quality explains why the brand has outlived so many canneries despite Portugal's turbulent economic history.
Today, Nuri's sardines, mackerel and tuna are sought after by tinned fish enthusiasts worldwide as authentic expressions of Portugal's rich seafood heritage.
