Tenorio - Tuna Fillets in Olive Oil with Lemon and Chilli

£4.95

Somewhere between the lemon's brightness and the chilli's warmth, these Atlantic bonito fillets found a comfortable place to exist. The olive oil carries both influences without taking sides.

The Atlantic tuna sits in olive oil that's been infusing itself with citrus and chilli for however long the tin's been sitting on the shelf. By the time you open it, the flavours have reached an understanding. Spread it on grilled bread rubbed with garlic, or stir it through couscous with coriander and nuts you've toasted until they smell like butter and earth chopped through.

The oil itself is good on vegetables, good on grains, good on most things that could use some brightness and warmth.

Ingredients: Tuna (65%), olive oil (28.5%), lemon (5%), salt, chilli pepper (0.5%).

Net Weight: 120g

About Tenorio

In the remote Atlantic archipelago of the Azores, Tenorio tuna fillets carry forward a tradition begun by Francisco Rodriguez Tenório in 1880. His original "Tuna in escabeche" established a standard for quality that continues through Cofaco's premium line today.

What distinguishes these tins is the remarkably clean flavour of bonito tuna, hand-prepared by skilled workers who maintain century-old methods. Each fillet is packed with olive oil and a touch of salt, allowing the fish's natural richness to shine through.

These fillets make brilliant quick meals—spread on crusty bread, tossed through pasta with lemon, or simply enjoyed straight from the tin with a glass of crisp white wine.

This is tinned tuna as it should be—simple, pure and treated with respect from ocean to plate.
