These Portuguese-style stuffed squid combine tender tubes with a filling of rice and the squid's own chopped tentacles. The tomato sauce adds the sweetness, while paprika and garlic bring warmth and depth that combine with the squid's natural flavour.

These traditional "lulas recheadas" have a satisfying textural contrast between the tender squid and the light filling. Serve them gently warmed with plenty of crusty bread for mopping up the sauce, or alongside a simple salad of bitter greens dressed olive oil and lemon juice. A taste of Portugal, prepared the traditional way and ready to enjoy.
